We’re excited to host a special networking event, Have Your Cake and Eat It Too, right here at Grand Villa on Wednesday, February 14th, from 2:00-4:00PM. In addition to enjoying some sweet treats (which everyone deserves in the middle of winter), visitors will have the chance to meet and mingle with our senior care professionals, including our Executive Director Cheryl Dean and our Health Services Director, Crystal Piatt, LPN.
We hope you’ll join us and find out more about our mission of inspired service—and what we’re doing to make an impact on our residents, their families, and the community we serve. Here’s a little bit about Crystal, and what she enjoys most about our senior living community.
Crystal Piatt saw the power of connection in senior living through a man she could not touch.
“When I first started in the medical field I took care of a gentleman who was on strict contact precautions and couldn’t have physical contact with anyone,” she explained. “That can be so hard on anyone. He got better and left the facility. After some time, he became sick again and came back to our facility to pass away. The first time I saw him back, he told me what an impact I had made. It was at that moment that I realized giving care was far more than changing one moment in time, it could honestly change someone’s life. That’s the day I fell in love with my job.”
Crystal is now the Health Services Director for Grand Villa Assisted Living, which offers around-the-clock care in a warm, intimate faith-based community here in Grand Junction. Crystal loves being a part of Grand Villa and watching “the differences that we can make for the residents and their families.”
She takes pride in her team and their “inspired service.” For Crystal that means showing “excitement, drive and passion when serving others in a way the inspires others to do the same.”
For those researching assisted living communities, Crystal recommends “talking to the team on the floor. They are the ones who will have direct interaction with their loved ones. Also look for a place that supports that same beliefs as the resident who will live there.”
Come learn more about Crystal at our “Have Your Cake and Eat It Too” networking event, a celebration of desserts and a chance to mingle with area senior living professionals.
She shared that her favorite dessert is baklava. “Baklava takes a lot of time, patience, and care to make it. It also has multiple layers, some softer, some harder and rich in flavor. This represents me best because a nursing career takes time, patience, and care to learn and to continue to grow.”
